MAY 4--Following his arrest last night for allegedly attempting to detonate a car bomb in Times Square, Faisal Shahzad told federal agents that he recently 'received bomb-making training in Waziristan,' the al-Qaeda-infested Pakistani region bordering Afghanistan.
According to a criminal complaint filed today in U.S. District Court in Manhattan, Shahzad, 30, confessed to the bomb plot after he was detained at John F. Kennedy International Airport, where he was seeking to board a plane bound for Dubai. The complaint, excerpted here, notes that when Shahzad returned to the U.S. on February 3--after spending five months in Pakistan--he told immigration inspectors that he had been visiting his parents during that period.
